A Crane For Every Job: Terex Cranes
Terex, suppliers of construction equipment ranging from cranes to crushers, operates in four business segments including the diversified Terex Crane supply. The range of cranes supplied by Terex subscribe to the traditional description of a crane being a lifting machine furnished with a winder, wire ropes and sheaves. The crane is used to lift objects up, down and horizontally. Cranes are employed within the construction industry for the transportation and movement of materials.
The Terex crane is a well established and varied product. Terex manufactures six truck crane models. The 20-30 ton T200, T300 and T340XL, 50-60 ton T500, the 75 ton T-775 and the 90 ton T790. The T 500 Series, which was launched at Conexpo in 1999, has a maximum lifting capacity of 50 tons. The maximum length of the t500 crane, which is comprised of a four section boom that is mechanically synchronized, is 110 feet, its maximum tip height is 114 feet. Two jib options are available, with both being off settable, similar to jib cranes. The main and optional auxiliary winches are hydraulic with two-speed bent axis piston motors and planetary gearing for equal speed power up and down.
Many Terex cranes employ air suspension over traditional steel springs, which lend them greater operational comfort and reduces the strain on the vehicle, cutting down on maintenance costs and ultimately making the vehicle more reliable. Greater load capacity is also possible. Terex was the second company to adopt the air suspension after LinkBelt in 1997. Terex initially first fitted the Air Link to the rear tandem axle of its T200 (20 ton to 30 ton capacity) and T300 (30 ton to 40 ton capacity) telescopic truck cranes in 1998. It is also standard fitment on the front tandem axle of the 50 ton T500, and, as an option (with about 50% take-up), on the rear tandem.
Terex crane products include, all terrain cranes, ranging from 33 to 800 tons capacity. These cranes also feature the longest booms on the market. Mobile hydraulic cranes in the form of crawler and truck mounted lattice boom cranes. Crawler cranes are available with lifting capacities of 50 to 1380 tons. Wheeled truck cranes are available in two models with lifting capacities from 500 to 660 tons. Tower cranes and are offered in four main varieties, hammerhead, flat-top, luffing jib and self-erecting. They also offer a wide variety of tower crane components. Boom truck mounted cranes with maximum lifting capacity ranges from 9,072 kg to 31,752kg and maximum boom length of 77ft. Container reach stackers, with a pile up capacity of 45 tons in first row, to 37 tons in third row lift and carry cranes. These cranes feature exceptional manoeuvrability in tight spaces, and when combined with their abilities on the most rugged terrain, provide all the benefits of a true general purpose crane. Rough terrain cranes with lifting capacities from 20 to 100 tons. And last but not least telescopic truck cranes.
Their cranes are also renowned for being durable and very strong. AT Bauma, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment in 2007, Terex Cranes presented thirteen cranes in the fields of telescopic cranes, tower cranes, crawler cranes and container stackers. This included the new Demag AC 100/4, Bendini RC 60 and PPM TC 40 L cranes. Their Demag AC 100/4 crane is said to be the strongest 100 t crane on four axles - when employing maximum counterweight. It is evident that Terex has become a household name at the Bauma International Trade Fair.
